Collaborative Efforts

The project is open to requests for collaborations. Questions regarding this should be directed to Dr. Robert Elston at robert.elston@cwru.edu.

In order to use the Resource to the best advantage, priorities for collaborative efforts will be given to the following kinds of studies:

  1. Studies in which polymorphic markers have been determined.
  2. Studies in which many different biochemical and/or physiological risk factor measurements are made, as opposed to studies in which merely the presence or absence of a disease is noted.
  3. Studies in which the variables measured are already known to show evidence of some possible genetic involvement, e.g., because of known familial aggreation.
  4. Studies of diseases of social and/or economic importance.

Collaborations have continued with many groups, at our local institution, around the country and internationally, resulting in papers published in the following diseases areas:

  • Alzheimer disease
  • Aneurysms
  • Asthma
  • Cancers
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Diabetes and Nephropathy
  • Epilepsy
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Neurological diseases
  • Nicotine dependence
  • Ophthalmologic disease
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Pregnancy outcomes
  • Psychiatric diseases
  • Pulmonary diseases
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Sleep apnea
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
