Eligibility Criteria for FIND

The general eligibility criteria for the family study are:: People over the age of 18 who have diabetic kidney disease and at least one full sibling with diabetes for greater than 10 years and able to participate OR both parents alive and able to participate.
The general eligibility criteria for the African-American MALD case-control study are:: African Americans over the age of 18 who have diabetic kidney disease and a spouse who does not have kidney disease. When available the offspring of the case and the spouse will also be recruited.; African Americans over the age of 18 who have kidney disease not owing to diabetes and a spouse who does not have kidney disease. When available the offspring of the case and the spouse will also be recruited.
The general eligibility criteria for the Mexican-American MALD case-control study are:: Mexican Americans over the age of 18 who have diabetic kidney disease.; Mexican Americans over the age of 18 who have diabetes for greater than 10 years and normal kidney function.
