You can link to a guessing correlations applet that requires you to match four scatterplot configurations with four values of the correlation coefficient. The website gives three games, and you must click on "Correlations" for this game. For instructions, click on the "Help!" button, then click on "Guessing Correlations" in the drop down menu. The default setting creates random scatter plots of 100 points. Since anything can happen by chance, sometimes two or more scatterplots are impossible to distinguish. Be assured that your success in statistics does not require making fine distinctions between scatterplots. Later, to create your own customized set of scatterplots, check the "Random correlations" box, click on "New Plots," typing the desired correlation coefficients in the pop up window, and click on "Accept correlations." |
